Aoife O’Donovan chose the smaller Club Cafe to perform, in support of her new album “In The Magic Hour” and “Man In A Neon Coat: Live From Cambridge,” as opposed to playing a larger venue like Mr. Smalls and the Rex Theater. Both venues she had occupied in the past. O’Donovan’s powerful voice was perfect for the intimate space, resonating with all in attendance. Her charismatic personality made you feel as if you were hanging with an old friend.

O’Donovan got her start with the bands Crooked Still and Sometymes Why, putting out 7 albums and an EP with them before releasing her acclaimed full length solo debut “Fossils.” Though American born, O’Donovan would spend time in Ireland with relatives singing music, which surely shines through in her approach.
