Musician, artist and entrepreneur Brett Dennen is a unique person with his long red hair, lanky frame and thick black eye glasses. He has a quirky yet captivating stage presence often seen gyrating his hips to his tunes. His music has a Tom Petty feel on 2013’s “When We Were Young,” and shows hints of Adam Duritz of The Counting Crows on many others.
Dennen just released his 6th studio album, Por Favor, which is a return to the style of his earlier work. The ten tracks explore an intimate side of Dennen while tackling some tougher subject matter, yet maintaining his upbeat approach. With a number of life changes he saw the opportunity to write about his experiences resulting in a true gem.
The California native is no stranger to Pittsburgh having played Mr. Smalls in 2011 and 2014 and WYEP’s Summer Music Festival in 2013. Dennen will be back at Mr. Smalls with Firekid June 12 for an all ages show with doors at 7 pm.Tickets can be purchased at TicketWeb for $22 or $25 the day of the show.
