w/ Trevor Sensor
July 24, 2017
Mt. Joy not to be confused with Mt. Washington, Mt. Oliver or Mount Pleasant has been red hot in 2017. Though the band may not have anything in common with some of our local “mountains” the 5 piece band does have roots in Philadelphia and the band was named after a mountain in Valley Forge National Park in eastern PA.
You know you’ve made it big as a band when you have performed at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. That is a notch on the belt for Mt. Joy, who haven’t even released their debut album yet. Things keep falling their way with high profile gigs at Newport Folk Festival, Made in America Festival, and were recently added to Lollapalooza!
The group consists of high school friends Matt Quinn (Vocals/Guitar) and Sam Cooper (Guitar) along with Michael Byrnes (bass), Sotiris Eliopoulos (drums), and Terrance Mack (keys). Quinn and Cooper almost squashed the idea of making music as a career pursuing regular 9-5 jobs while their song “Astrovan” was taking off in the internet world. Lucky for us the band found its true calling and are working on a debut full length in Los Angelas.
Mt. Joy will be in town Monday, July 24 at Club Cafe with Trevor Sensor and Pittsburgh’s very own Zoob! Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm for this 21+ show. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the box office, Dave’s Music Mine, TicketWeb or you can win a pair from us!
