“Ok so for my new project “Here Comes Trouble” I will be releasing each song with a video that captures the essence of the music. The purpose is to expose the the listener/viewer to American culture of the 40’s 50’s and 60’s via sampled archived videos that have widely gone unused.

A friend of mine turned me on to the public domain archived video sites recently. He showed me a couple of videos he created to accompany his music. It really sparked my interested and I think I stayed up all night that night browsing archived videos from the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s. I can best explain it as watching a youtube time machine; I really got sucked in. Now I’m a little obsessed with these videos as they gave me a new perspective on culture from different eras by watching old commercials, documentaries, dating culture etc.

For example, Historians tend to portray the 50’s with prosperity, conformity, and consensus, and the 1960s as a decade of turbulence, protest, and disillusionment. These stereotypes are generally true, but there are exceptions to this perspective. Im not saying that the general portrayal of the 1950s and 1960s isn’t accurate for the vast majority, just some of the things that I viewed in these archived commercials and old home movies of sex/dating culture were definitely black sheep.”
