In 1964 Ed Sullivan introduced the Beatles to the US and the rest was history. Since then television has helped launch the careers of countless musicians from late night talk shows to singing com petitions like American Idol in 2002.
American Idol alone has catapulted the careers of many including Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood who won their respective seasons. Even some of the runner ups from the show have made a name for themselves. In 2006 Chris Daughtry came in 4th place but has went on to have a successful career, winning a number of awards at the American Music Awards. Jennifer Hudson, another Idol finalist has also done quite well with her career. Another runner up success story is Angie Miller the 3rd place finisher in 2013. In 2014 she released her debut EP Weathered. Now Miller goes by the stage name Zealyn.
Half the battle with making it big after competing in shows like American Idol is to break away from the pop persona that the show creates and to truly find who you are as ann artist. Miller does this perfectly as Zealyn showing a darker side with debut EP Limbic System. In an interview Miller says, “After three years of being a pop artist, I was craving more creativity in my music. I wanted to experiment more and create a sound of my own.”
