You can probably count on one hand how many Pittsburgh bands could reel in a respectable crowd at Hartwood Acres, a gigantic outdoor venue. Bastard Bearded Irishmen proved they are one of them, drawing a mass larger than some national acts that have played the venue. Many were BBI faithful dressed in their favorite band swag, others were there for the free show on a Sunday night, that didn’t see a drop of rain.
There is no stage too big for these guys, with their enormous presence and vast catalog of music. They rolled through tunes from both of their first two albums, snuck in one that was never played live before and featured brand new songs to thrill the old fans. No fan left disappointed on a night that felt like a cool October evening, while the crew joked about picking pumpkins after the show.
