Omara Moctar, 33, better known as Bombino is a Tuareg blues guitarist and singer/songwriter from Agadez, Niger. He is touring in support of his latest album entitled Nomad which was produced by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys and was released by Nonesuch records April 2, 2013. Auerbach discovered Bombino from a video clip and later was a recommended listen by a friend. NPR calls the pairing “inspired,” saying that Bombino’s “sound and style are alluring on a global scale.” NPR says it’s “a landmark in African rock music.” Bombino has risen to international stardom and has made stops on the festival circuit including Bonnaroo, Sasquatch!, Newport Folk Festival and Forecastle to name a few. Bombino will bring his three piece band to the Thundrbird Cafe in Lawrenceville, Wednesday, November 27, 2013. This will actually be his 2nd appearance at the venue, making his first April, 11, 2012.
