Butch Walker : Ticket Giveaway

Butch Walker has had quite the music career dating back to the late 80’s where he had success with the glam metal band Byte the Bullet, later called SouthGang. Walker played lead guitar for the hair band that had success with the song “Tainted angel.” It wan’t until the breakup of SouthGang that Walker showcased his tremendous vocal and writing skills. Dropping SouthGang lead vocalist Jesse Hart, Walker, Jayce Fincher, and Mitch McLee formed the PowerPop trio Marvelous 3. Their biggest hit came in 1998 with the lead track on the album “Hey! Album” called “Freak of the Week.” Many musicians flame out after this kind of success but Walker’s achievements were yet to come.

As a solo artist Walker has 8 albums to his credit with the most recent “Stay Gold,” just released August 26, and 6 EP’s. Some of Walker’s most prolific accomplishments may be for other artists though. He has produced songs by Avril Lavigne, Weezer, Katy Perry, Panic! at the Disco, Taylor Swift and countless others.

Walker writes intelligent music about life moments. 2008’s “Sycamore Meadows” was an album about his Malibu residence that was decimated by a wildfire. While 2015’s “Afraid of Ghosts” was a reflection on the passing of his father.

Butch Walker will be in town Tuesday September 6 for an all ages show at Mr. Smalls. Doors open at 7pm with the show kicking off at 8 with special guests Suzanne Santo and The Wind and the Wave. Tickets are only $20 and can be purchased at TicketWeb.
