Photographer/Designer Makes Rock Calendar for a Cause

Photographer and graphic designer Reina Peli has made a name for herself with Pittsburgh area musicians for her creative concert posters and impressive photos. Peli started covering the Rock for Life concert series a little over 2 years ago and immediately felt like part of the RFL family.

The Rock For Life concerts have expanded from a single 2 day festival at Icelin ballfied in Indiana County with camping, vendors and 20 bands to include two more weekend events known as Gigaroo and Rocktoberfest. The idea was shared by two friends, Matt Ferrante and Steve Craven, who had the same vision. They wanted to help those who had illnesses but couldn’t afford the costs associated with the life threatening diseases. The pair, with the dedication and support of local musicians, have managed to raise over $100,000 in 16 years!

Peli wanted do something more to help than just take photos and post them to social media, so she decided to put her photos and design skills to work and came up with the Rock For Life Calendar for 2016. “I wanted to create something to look at every day to remind the bands of why they do what they do for the kids,” says Peli. The first annual calendar features band members from After the Fall, A Common Crown, Ill Fated, Big House Pete, Fist Fight In the Parking Lot and Skell. “I was a little nervous at first with my selections that made the final cut, so I went with the shots that I was most proud of taking. I made them look like the rock stars that they truly are,” she continues.

The calendars sold pretty quickly but 15 remain, with the potential of more being printed based on demand. You can get your copy with free shipping by donating at https://www.paypal.me/reinapeli/15. All proceeds will go to Rock For Life to continue their mission.
