Pixies will play Carnegie Music Hall of Oakland 1/25/2014

The Pixies are set to play Carnegie Music Hall of Oakland with opening act FIDLAR, Saturday, January 25, 2014. Black Francis will be leading the way on vocals and rhythem guitar, Joey Santiago on lead guitar, David Lovering on drums and Kim Shattuck on bass and vocals. Shattuck is currently standing in for founding member Kim Deal who recently left the band. Shortly after Deal’s departure the band released the single “Badgboy.”

During and interview with Rolling Stone Francis spoke of Deal leaving by saying “We were at a little coffee shop near the studio,” he said. “Kim walked in at some point and said, ‘I’m flying home tomorrow.’ She quit the band. It was an awkward moment. We didn’t hug or shake hands or anything. [Guitarist] Joey [Santiago] and I just stood up and said, ‘OK.’ Then we had to get out of there, so we immediately went to a bar. I had to move from coffee to alcohol.”

The Pixies released a 4 song ep in September, called ep1 but are not supporting a full length release at this time. The 1991 release “Trompe Le Monde,” was the last full length album by the crew. Black Francis was in town at Club Cafe 2/12/2013. The Pixies played the Decade in Pittsburgh June 8, 1988. Below is a cool setlist from that show. Tickets can be purchased October 11 at Ticketfly with a price range from $47-$70. You can get the fan club pre-sale when typing in “ANDRO.”
