The beauty of a venue like Club Café, the 140 or so capacity venue on Pittsburgh’s South Side, is not only the up close and personal feel but also the amount of up and coming talent that makes a stop there. There’s nothing better than catching a favorite band up close and personal. You’ll have that chance Friday with Quilt, a 4 piece psychedelic indie rock band from Boston.
With the release of their latest album “Plaza” the group made their way through Europe on an 18 date tour before returning home for festival dates at Mountain Jam and Firefly Music Festival. “Plaza” has the sound of a former generation with a modern twist.
Vacalist and guitarist Anna Rochinski explains each track from the new album in an article by NPR. Here is what she had to say about opening track Passerby, “This song was written several years ago. It is meant to be a simple reflection on the passing strangers in a public space, with lush orchestration and an alternate guitar tuning to give it a darker atmosphere. The lyrics of the song are built around a fleeting moment of eye contact with a stranger in passing- “knowing eyes of passersby gaze into mine”. I think of it as a soundscape with a little poem inside of it.”
