Hopefully you had time to soak in the new album from Thao & the Get Down Stay Down over the past month. “A Man Alive,” is the latest effort from the band and their 4th studio album, released March 4th. If you have, you know it’s REALLY GOOD! Produced by Merrill Garbus of the tUnE-yArDs, you can tell her fingerprint is all over the album from the peculiar sounds to the catchy melodies.

Thao just wrapped up performances at SXSW festival and was said to be the highlight for many with her fresh songs leading the way. Her live performance is a sight to see; passionate, quirky and polished, this band will not disappoint. The band just released a video for their first single “Astonished Man” depicting Thao Nguyen in a house of horrors, complete with, blood, flying chain saws and skeletons.

Thao & TGDSD were last in Pittsburgh back in 2013 but lucky for us the band will be making another appearance at Mr. Small’s Theater with Saintseneca, Friday April 8 for a 9 pm all ages show. You can purchase tickets at TicketWeb for $16 and $18 at the door.
