*Acousticafe pays tribute to the British Invasion with a benefit at Mr.
Smalls,** April 24th*
Local music collective *Acousticafe* is raising money for the *Autism
Connection of Pennsylvania* with an all-star *British Invasion* tribute
show featuring* Josh Verbanets, the Nox Boys, Wreck Loose, Chet Vincent,
Andre Costello, Paul Luc, Action Camp, Clinton Clegg, Little Black Birds,
C, Kelly Zullo, Morgan Erina, Brooke Annibale, Mike Strasser,
Jimbo Jackson* and many more. The benefit will take place on *April 24th at
Mr. Smalls Theater *in* Millvale, PA. *
Originally envisioned as a tribute solely to the music of *The Beatles*,
this is the show’s sixth year, and the first to feature tributes to
non-Beatle members of the British invasion, including *The Rolling Stones,
The Who, The Kinks, Cream, The Zombies*, and others. “We felt that we had
so much fun with the previous Beatles tributes that to improve on the show
we needed some fresh material,” says *Jesse Prentiss*, show organizer, “it
seemed natural to add some of the music that The Beatles’ success in the US
paved the way for.”
“These groups pushed rock and popular music in new directions, even
influencing The Beatles themselves as they explored innovations in
songwriting, performing and recording.”
As to this year’s pick of charity: “A number of artists associated with
AcoustiCafe have family and close friends with autism, and they’ve seen the
value that organizations like the Autism Connection of PA (*autismofpa.org*
families dealing with autism, as well as raising public awareness of the
issues and obstacles facing such families,” Jesse says. “We’re pleased to
be partnering with this wonderful organization for a second time.”
