Wolf Alice Make Their Pittsburgh Debut

Thursday night was a British takeover at the Club at Stage AE. Wolf Alice played a packed set that many in the crowd were stoked for. The band Slaves were getting the crowd warmed up for Wolf Alice. Slaves is a punk duo from Kent, England that were an awesome opener consisting of Isaac Holman performing as a stand up drummer and lead vocalist, and guitarist Laurie Vincent. Slaves have just released their debut album, Are You Satisfied? in June 2015.

Wolf Alice then took the stage with many audience members traveling to the show for Wolf Alice’s Pittsburgh debut. The band consists of Ellie Rowsell on lead guitar and vocals, guitarist Joff Oddie, Theo Ellis on bass, and drummer Joel Amey. The band lacked energy in the beginning of the set, but towards the end seemed to match the energy set by their opener, Slaves. Perhaps American audiences expect more, as in a previous interview, Rowsell states “I feel like American audiences are a lot more enthusiastic and a lot more vocal.” Wolf Alice started as a duo and now have a Grammy nomination to their name.
