Faster Pussycat is showing no signs of slowing down, playing strings of shows over the past few months.In recent years the 80’s glam rockers have played Altar Bar, Diesel, and even Bridgeville bar RPM’s (now 31 Sports Bar and Grill). The band is still fronted by the legendary original member Taime Downe, Danny Nordahl on bass, Xristian Simon on guitar, Michael Thomas on guitar and Chad Stewart on drums.
Forming in 1985 Faster Pussycat broke stride in 87 with their self titled debut producing hits like “Bathroom Wall,” written about, you guessed it, all the sleazy things you might find on the stall in a bathroom. The band always were comedic with their songwriting. 1989 saw “Wake Me When It’s Over,” the bands 2nd album and a departure from their glam sound. This album produced power balad “House of Pain,” and “Poison Ivy.” Whipped! the bands biggest selling album dropped in 1992 reaching 90 on the billboard charts. 1 year later the group broke up at the height of their popularity.
The band reformed in 2001, changing their style to a more industrial rock sound, recreating classics to this style. In 2006 their were actually 2 Faster Pussycat bands, when original members Brent Muscat, Brett Bradshaw and Eric Stacy reformed performing FPC songs in their original form. After a long battle Muscat eventually forfeited the bands name to Downe. After feued for a number of years Downe has since reconciled with his former bandmates.
You can catch Faster Pussycat with local rockers The Dirty Charms Tuesday, July 18 at Cattivo in Lawrenceville at 9 PM. This show is rescheduled from their show in April. Tickets can be purchased at ilovesupermonkey.com for $20 or win a pair from us.
