Cigarettes After Sex are a relatively new band who found their stardom through YouTube. With over 300,000 subscribers, millions of views and nearly half a million facebook followers, Cigarettes After Sex are truly a reflection of today’s music industry. The El Paso, Texas ambient rockers formed in 2008 and released their debut EP in 2012. 2017 saw the release of their debut full length album Cigarettes After Sex, released June 9, 2017.
Their music can be described as dream pop or shoegaze. Lead singer Greg Gonzalez’s voice is angelic and has been noted to put people to sleep… In a good way. Listeners have admitted that their music has helped them fall asleep when nothing else would do the trick. Gonzalez himself has stated that he too has listened to music to aid his sleep. In an interview with Interview Magazine, Gonzalez says, “I’ve never taken drugs to sleep or anything, it’s always just been music,” he explains. “I have my medicine cabinet of records that I know will do it for me.”
You can catch Cigarettes After Sex for the first time in Pittsburgh Tuesday, April 10 at Mr. Smalls Theatre for an all ages show. Doors are at 8pm and show begins at 9pm. Tickets can be purchased HERE or win a pair from us!
