New beginnings can mean the dawn of something great, and that is just the case for Paper Bird. The folk band from Denver, Colorado has been thriving with the addition of a new member and new studio release. Carleigh Aikins officially joined the band just last year, and by the sounds of it, has had a fine time accompanying Genevieve Patterson and Sarah Anderson on lead vocals, the two who’ve been singing together since the band’s start over a decade ago in 2006. Three part harmonies are rich as ever, as is instrumentation courtesy of bassist Caleb Summeril, guitarist Paul DeHaven, and drummer Mark Anderson.
Paper Bird’s self-titled album, released last year on Thirty Tigers Records/Sons of Thunder Records, reflects the folk, Americana, and rock roots the band holds dear. They joined forces with producers David Kalmusky and the world-renowned John Oates (Hall & Oates) to capture their vibrant and inviting sound. You can catch them on their tour through North America on Wednesday, March 29th at Club Cafe. Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm. 21+. Tickets are $12 and can be found at ticketweb
