Pittsburgh will be treated to their very first Weaves concert March 28 at Club Cafe. The Toronto based indie rock group have played all over the world, finally debuting in the steel city.
The quartet consists of Jasmyn Burke on vocals, Morgan Waters on guitar, Spencer Cole on drums and Zachary Bines on bass. Waters is known for his time in the Toronto band Sweet Thing and as an actor. waters starred in the Morgan Waters Show in 2006 among others.
October 2017 saw the release of their 2nd full length album, “Wide Open.” It is more polished than their self titlesd debut from 2016, which earned them a nomination for Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year and the 2017 Polaris Music Prize.
In an interview with The Fader website, Burke said, “With our first album and with our EP we were trying to find our sound. We toured last year for forever — like eight months. You start to feel this energy. I think we all felt really comfortable with each other in a way that was different from the last album. We wanted things to be really direct and extreme [on Wide Open]. You have a song like “Walkaway,” and a song like “Scream,” and how do you put those on an album? But at the same time, why not put them on the same album?”
