PURPLE Ready to Rock Smiling Moose Tomorrow

This might be the can’t miss show of the month, maybe the summer! Drummers often get forgotten as they pound away in the background, only getting the nod during band introductions or drum solos. Well, Hanna Brewer is changing that, bringing her drum kit and screeching vocals to the forefront, with her band Purple. This Beaumont, TX trio also features Taylor Busby on guitar and Joe “Prankster” Cannariato on bass. They are taking full advantage of their impressive debut album (409) by showcasing it on the road, with a stop at the Smiling Moose. (409) boasts the raucous tune “DMT,” a 6 minute and 15 second piece of punk rock gold. They slow things down briefly with the fun tune “Beach Buddy,”  but Brewer is tough to contain on songs like  “Thirteen,” and “Head on the Floor.”

Purple is playing with bands The Gentlemen and Huzzah. The all ages event is only $10 with doors opening at 6:30 and show at 7:00. Tickets can be purchased at the venue or ticketfly. NPR claims they would “follow (PURPLE) to the end of the Earth,” that alone should be reason enough to follow these guys to the South Side. You will not be disappointed.
