Mr. Smalls Theater
Like their name suggests, Elephant Revival cares about issues that are happening in the world and are quite the humanitarians at that. They have worked with countless non profit organizations to help make the earth a better place to live, all while reducing our carbon footprint. Bands like this are hard to come by these days; ones who have such an impact on so many lives, not only musically but in every day life.
Their music draws from a number of influences ranging from folk, bluegrass, americana and celtic. Lead signer Bonnie Paine adds in her eclectic vocals while the others produce a mysterious and sometimes haunting sound. With their 4th studio album, Elephant Revival’s website says, “Petals embodies a deepening, as the quintet dives into themes of loss and rebirth, time and memory, love unbound by body or farewell. But this is not an album about despair or darkness; it’s a thanksgiving and a prayer for what endures and returns.”
The crew was in Pittsburgh not too long ago for the Three Rivers Arts Festival with members of Railroad Earth hopping on board for a few songs. This time they’ll be at Mr. Smalls May 5 with Ben Sollee and locals The Unknown String Band at 7:30 PM. Tickets for the all ages show are $15 and can be purchased at TicketWeb
