On the heels of their success with 2014’s Sway LP (Graveface Records), the Bay Area formed quintet Whirr have announced a string of US tour dates this April. They’ll be joined on the road by Adventures, Wildhoney, and Wild Moth.
After a 2013 tour with Philadelphia’s Nothing, bassist Nick Bassett and Nothing’s Dominic Palermo formed a band called Death of Lovers, which eventually spawned Bassett’s move to the East coast, and his taking a permanent post as bassist for Nothing.
Hence Sway was written on both coasts, with Bassett working on material from Philly and the rest of the band committed to the project full time back at home in San Francisco. Recorded at Oakland’s Atomic Garden with Sunbather producer Jack Shirley, Sway is the most fleshed-out full-sounding release from the band to date, and has quickly become a monumental success with fans and critics alike.
