November 2, Mr. Smalls theater will be hosting Detroit native rapper, Danny Brown on his Exhibition tour promoting his latest studio album, Atrocity Exhibition. Brown’s unique style, voice, content, and stage presence has been turning heads for years. His first studio album, XXX, came out in 2011 with rave reviews. It placed in the top 20 ranking of best albums of 2011 from multiple sources. Its lengthy track list included songs that described the brutal realities of Brown’s life. He covered everything from his time in prison, loss of friends, drug habits, and coming to terms with his new found success.

Fast forward 5 years, Danny Brown has seen the world thanks to his music and continues to do so to this day. At age 35 his Exhibition tour is taking him back across the US to promote his 3rd studio album. Atrocity Exhibition, a tip of the hat to British punk band, Joy Division, is another look into the life of Danny Brown. This well refined album takes a look at what Brown has been through to get to where he is today and how that journey has changed him as an artist. On tracks like “Tell Me What I Don’t Know,” Brown abandons his iconic high pitched voice to reveal a darker more serious vibe, which he uses to portray sobering stories of his past. As a whole the album has very few features from other artists, giving Brown room to run on each track. “Really Doe,” one of few songs on the album that does feature other artists, is jammed packed with talent from the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, and Earl Sweatshirt.

Danny Brown will be performing at Mr. Smalls November 2 along side Maxo Kream and Zelloperz 8pm-11:30. For more information you can visit the event page on Facebook. Doors open at 7pm for this all ages show and tickets can be purchased for $22 in advance at Ticktweb or the day of the show.
